Student and Alumni Spotlight

James Toone

James joined the BYU Chinese Flagship Program's 2004-2005 cohort to develop language and cultural competencies to facilitate and enhance a career in international finance. The highlights of his Flagship experience were his Beijing-based internship at a boutique Chinese investment bank and the lasting friendships forged with fellow Flagship students. The skills he learned in the Chinese Flagship program have helped him communicate complex investment strategies and financial structures to prospective Chinese investors in their native language, helping his Chinese investors better understand the unique investment opportunities available in U.S. markets.
