MS. RITA E. CORTEZ

FLAGSHIP MANAGING DIRECTOR

Ms. Cortez has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas-San Antonio. She has over 25 years of experience in high level university administration, most of which involved overseeing federally-funded grant projects. She is originally from Texas and has 3 children, 2 who are BYU graduates. She came to BYU in 2009, enjoys reading, cultural arts, cycling, hiking, and music. In addition to her Flagship duties, Ms. Cortez is now an officer of BYU's Research Development Coordinating Council (RDCC) and represents the College of Humanities (COH). In this capacity she assists COH faculty in identifying, applying for, and submitting grant proposals and budgets.
