Mengxi’s current career: "I became interested in studying Chinese formally during undergrad because I wanted to work for the US Department of State, and Chinese is considered a critical language. I worked as a Passport Specialist at the Department of State for almost three years before moving to Virginia to support my spouse who is an assistant professor of Korean history at the University of Virginia. I currently work as a freelance academic translator. In the future I am interested in pursuing PhD studies."
