History and Culture Network (中国历史文化网) Historical information is provided according to dynasties. Cultural information includes that on food, tea, gardens, folklore, theater, painting and calligraphy, poetry, clothing, medicine, pottery, and mystery.
The Economist - This website provides and excellent profile and recent articles about China appearing in The Economist magazine. Provides essential information for any student of Chinese or anyone interested in China. This website provides a wealth of easy-access information and also includes great links.
CIA World Factbook - China - This is a huge brain-dump from the CIA. Has some great information, but a bit overwhelming.
