Internships

Placement

The Qingdao Flagship Center arranges and manages all internships in China. Placements may be in various locations around China depending on the needs of each participant. Typically, internships will be in Chinese institutions rather than multinational groups. Participants begin to coordinate with the Qingdao Center the year prior to the overseas capstone program.

Financial Arrangements

Compensation for internships varies widely on the particular situation, In order not to inhibit productive internships, we look for arrangements with companies and institutions that provide a roughly "break-even" result. Some Chinese companies and institutions are willing to provide basic housing and a living stipend. In cases where that is not the case but where the opportunity is promising, the Flagship program will consider providing a stipend to help the students' participation.

Supervision

The OSU-Qingdao Flagship Center will makes site visits to internship locations to evaluate the appropriateness of the internship, provide support for the student, and to build relationships for future participants.

Language Tutor

This tutor typically will meet 5-10 hours per week to help interns continue their language study and to guide them in cultural encounters.
