Utah's International Education Summit
Capitalizing on Strengths, Creating New Opportunities.
Governor Huntsman's Global Initiatives for Utah provide important international direction for the state's education goals. The International Education Summit will launch an international education master plan for Utah students. The recommendations from the Governor's Language Summit will play a key role in developing education policies to support Utah's leading role in the future global economy.
Utah International Education Summit Objectives:- Share the current state of international education in Utah public schools.
- Identify opportunities for further development of internatinoal education initiatives.
- Create specific recommendations for seizing those opportunities, specifically including business, higher education and community partners with K-16 schools.
The upcoming International Education Summit has been organized in collaboration with the Utah State Office of Education. Participants will include national and state leaders. The recommendations made at the International Education Summit regarding international education will help shape policy decisions for Utah students.
The International Education Summit will specifically address how the current academic and extracurricular offerings in Utah schools can support and reinforce global competence; how the business community in Utah can support 21st century skills; how technology innovations can support international education; how cultural exchanges can be strengthened, and what steps can be taken to best prepare and support teachers in their knowledge and teaching of international issues.
